This is an exciting opportunity available to be involved in teaching at a successful Christian school. The King’s School has operated for 33 years. Stepping Stones joined The King’s School in September 2014 having been successfully run for 23 years and is open 4 ½ days per week. Stepping Stones can have 26 pupils on site at any one time, and takes pupils from N1 to Reception.

For this maternity cover, we are looking for someone who can lead the education for the nursery children. We are willing to consider a job share for this role.

The successful candidate(s) will have a love for working with young children, be flexible and servant-hearted. They would have a relevant qualification of at least a level 3. The successful candidate(s) would work from Monday to Friday, but not Wednesday afternoons and would be a key person to a group of children. They will be able to work as part of a strong staff team in line with the vision of Oxfordshire Community Churches and the distinctively Christian ethos of Stepping Stones. It is therefore a genuine and determining occupational requirement that the job-holder must be a committed Christian willing to work with others in the context of OCC’s ethos statement.

We are looking for a leader who can oversee the primary department of the school from Y1-Y6. The successful candidate will be an excellent primary practitioner, flexible, and servant-hearted, willing to use their gifts as part of the school team. As a leader and manager they will be able to build upon the successes of the past, maintaining the distinctive Christian quality and tone of the school. They will be able to work as part of a strong staff team in line with the vision of Oxfordshire Community Churches. It is therefore a genuine and determining occupational requirement that the job-holder must be a committed Christian willing to work with others in the context of OCC’s ethos statement. For the right candidate we are prepared to look at a less than full time role. Internal and external applicants welcome. A January or April start date, can be negotiated, depending on your required notice period.

The role:

  • To work with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Senior Management Team (SMT) in whole school matters, that the school vision and mission may be fulfilled
  • To lead the Primary staff team with vision and in pastoral care, especially through staff meetings
  • To oversee primary assessment, including marking and reporting to parents
  • To lead and organise with the principal, lesson observations and performance management for Primary Staff
  • To oversee and develop the primary curriculum
  • To agree suitable timetables for the primary classes with teachers
  • To lead assembly and devotional life
  • To organise cover of lessons
  • To give oversight to pastoral and behaviour management issues and the associated parent communication
  • To interview new families seeking to join the school community
  • To advise Principal on budget allocation, inset needs, and SDP priorities
  • To oversee date coordination for the school calendar in communication with SMT
  • To be involved in classroom classroom teaching
