GCSE Results

Achieving excellent results: Although we take the view that there is far more to each child than their examination results, we have been privileged to see our students achieve well at GCSE, a view endorsed by our inspection report which noted,

“… (results over the last 3 years) show that nearly half the grades have been at A* or A, and that nearly nine tenths of the grades have been in the A* to C range.  For a non-selective school, these attainments represent good achievements.” extract from Bridge Schools Inspectorate report 2015.

2018 Results

The 2018 results were as follows:

Grades 9 – 4 (previously A* – C) 97% of exams taken

Grades 9 – 7 (previously A* – A)

Percentage of pupils achieving 7 or more passes at grades 9-7 (previously A* – A)

Percentage of pupils achieving at least 5 passes at grade 4 (previously C) or above including English and Maths 92%
Percentage of pupils achieving at least 5 passes at grade C  (or 4) or above 96%

This years’ results were very pleasing and compare favourably against the national average for this year where 20.5% of all examination results were grades 9-7 and the percentage of students nationally achieving at least 5 passes at grade 4 or above was 66.9%.

Comparison with other schools

Two standard measures are used to compare with state schools in Oxfordshire and the mean value for State schools in England (Progress 8 measures were not used as SATS are not used in Year 6 at TKS, so no KS2 attainment levels are available for the calculation):

TKS results in 2018 were higher than any state school in Oxfordshire in the measures of the % achieving grade 5 or above in English and Maths (79%), where the mean in England is 43%. The mean ‘Attainment 8’ score (standard measure for schools) was also higher than any state school in Oxfordshire (64.2), with the mean in England being 46.4. This is outstanding for our non-selective school, and was highlighted in our recent ISI inspection.
